REVIEWS

Awesome App - Does What It Says
by R. E. Burnham on Jul 11, 2010 *****
This is the first app Ive ever felt compelled to write a review for, because it actually does everything it advertises and provides amazing attention to detail not only with the instructions and information itself but also with the design and stability of the app. The accompanying videos are laced with enthusiasm and the presenter, Jake, really excites you with the notion of making sushi.

Great application, full of videos and explanations. The support is also really good, I sent an email to them and I got the reply right away, they also have Twitter and Facebook accounts where you can contact them.

Pros and cons of Teach Me Sushi app for iPhone and iPad

Teach Me Sushi app good for

Found it was a bit pricey but I love sushi and want to learn to make it soo I guess 4.99 isnt to bad. I was hoping it had more videos, but the ones it does have are great and easy to follow. Also the rice timer is a great feature. Only reason I didnt give a 5-star rating was the price. Otherwise, I am really happy :)
Letbme tell you something if you are thinking having a sushi course you are going to pay more than a 100$. So 4.99 for this app is just fair value price! All the videos are great and I learned everything I need to know about how to make sushi with this apps! I loved! Hope they keep updating the app with new tips!
I always wanted to make sushis but never found out how or who to ask not even the internet is as precisely. Now with this app i have everything even where to buy .meanwhile i would like more recipes but to begin its da best thing to make sushiss
I took a sushi class some years ago and, while informative, Ive forgotten a lot. This brought it all back and then some. The rice has always been the hardest part for me. No more! Would give 10 stars if I could.
The videos are so much fun and so informative - and makes it look so easy. I cant wait to wrap my first roll.
It would be nice if they added recipes for spicy mayo, or any other sauces that are common in sushi restaurants besides soy sauce.

Some bad moments

This is it??? no teach visualy make the sushi?? just talk about sushi??? sorry but I fell wrong.
Disappointed in the bottled rice vinegar used. Looking for recipe with real ingredients from scratch for real authentic sushi . Have never seen rice prepared in this way. This is not the way a real Japanese sushi chef prepares sushi. It was a waste of $4.99
The update, with the exception of the volcano roll, which is strangely absent, is the exact same as the recipe videos in the expert pack. What a waste of memory. Either include a way to merge the two apps (no charge for those that bought both versions, or simply add the few new recipes so that recipes are not repeated. Please fix this immediately and include the volcano roll, the one recipe forgotten, for free.
at 1.4 GB, its the same size as TomTom with full detailed map for North America and Canada. Sorry but its out of my iPhone, cant spend that much space for this apps (and I dont even have in-apps purchased)
I already have this app and the pro one but this upgrade is too big for my ipod and i have 3 go free on space!!!!!! Think of that dude!!! We dont have all 40 go free!
I am an actual sushi chef and I got this app because I was curious. However, I am very disappointed. This guy is not teaching people how to do things correctly, he skips over important steps, and if you follow his instructions you will get chewy fish that will probably make you sick. If you follow his instructions you will get chewy/stringy fish because he does not slice the fish properly, he cuts parallel to the lines as opposed to perpendicular. You will also get sick because you have to cure fresh water fish, such as salmon, before it is safe to eat and he does not explain that at all. He is also using unseasoned rice vinegar for the rice, which would taste bad. Also, he uses warm water as his hand water (as opposed to ice water or iced seasoned rice vinegar) which is a breeding ground for bacteria. I hate to leave such a poor review but I felt that people should know the facts before they give themselves or their friends food poisoning.
